Our Story

The Tarbiyah Project LLC is a grassroots-level initiative organically born out of Sara's journey as a passionate student of psychology and counseling, a mother to a young and growing family, and now a certified trauma-informed parent coach. As a Pakistan-born, Western-raised Muslimah now raising four beautiful children in Dallas, Texas, Sara has had a growing realization that when it comes to adopting and following a healthy parenting philosophy that successfully combines Islamic principles based on Quran and Sunnah with clinical evidence & cultural awareness, there is a lack of resources and platforms out there that caters to Muslim parents, particularly those raising the next generation in the "West".
Sara credits the origins of Tarbiyah Project LLC to one afternoon in June 2022. While on a trip to Sydney, Australia to visit parents, Sara found herself in the middle of yet another tantrum of her then-5 year old and 3 year old boys. With a growing exhaustion of a struggling mother, lack of social support, and a dearth of evidence-based resources, Sara found herself at her lowest point of motherhood, far from the ideal of a Muslim mother. The desire to "fulfill my greatest potential as a mother" has led Sara from a parent who looked primarily towards past traditions and cultural practices for answers to parenting challenges to a more conscious parent now looking to Islamic tradition, clinical evidence, expert opinion, and research-driven practices to answer the ever-challenging ask of raising confident & compassionate human beings who are model ambassadors of their faith in practice and character. This journey of growth has led Sara to study, practice and coach on Respectful Parenting, a parenting philosophy that combines the principles of self-awareness, self-healing, empathy and active listening, built upon the foundation of practical guidance from the Quran and the life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Sara carries a deep appreciation of the challenges facing Muslim parents in the West and takes immense pride in walking the journey of growth and parenting with her clients, one “small win” at a time.
